Day 2 Short Around Island Race & IRC Windward Leewards.

Whitsunday’s again turned on the gorgeous perfect weather which unfortunately isn’t always the best for sailing as generally you need a bit of wind to get around the course.  Eventually the breeze picked up, but was fickle through out the day and tested the sailors tactics.

2008 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week- Day 1: Lindeman Island Race

Sailing on Day 1 of The 2008 Audi Hamilton Island Race Week saw fresh southerly breezes of around 20-25 knots with some exciting sailing.  Confusion on the start line was evident after there was a delayed start, only to begin the race with a general recall of the IRC Grand Prix fleet to restart the race for a second time.  I guess the sailors were very eager to race and couldn’t wait for the starters gun.

Shockwave Club Marine led the beat to Lindeman Island only to lose the lead at spit fire rock, where Bob Oatley’s Wild Oats X and Peter Harburg’s Black Jack dueled out a run to the finishing line back at Hamilton Islands Dent Passage.
