A colleague and friend of mine has been pregnant for the last 7 months or so and I was quite keen to improve on the last pregnancy shoot I had done many many years ago.
A lot of people, for some reason or another, find images of pregnancy quite offensive. Naturally the female form is generally shown partially or fully nude and this may be the half of it. I myself have never really liked any of the images I have produced or even seen from other photographers. So for the last few months I have been racking my brains on how to execute a beautiful image of the pregnant mother.
Having recently sat through most of the judging at the recent Cannon APPA’s I was inspired by a particular image I had seen. The first in fact that I had ever seen that made me truly appreciate the beauty of motherhood.
So thank you to the photographer that inspired this image, and allowed me to capture a very precious moment in this mothers life.
