In all the lead up to the AIPP APPA’s I had forgotten all about the the Epson International Photographic Pano Awards. This is a relatively new annual competition open to both Professionals & Enthusiasts alike and is designed specifically for panorama images. From 79 countries around the world more than 2700 entries were submitted. Only 31 achieved silver status. Out of my 6 entries I received 1 Silver & 3 Bronze awards. Moreover my silver award ‘Whitsunday Passage Prongs” was placed Runner up in the Open Nature division. Of course nobody remembers second place, so maybe next year…
Interestingly the competition was open to 360º images that are generally used for virtual reality imagery. The image below “Kingfisher Staircase” was awarded Bronze in the Open – Built Environment (including Architecture) division.
To see the image above as a virtual tour in action, follow this link to the “staircase” virtual tour.
